Rodger M. Landau is the Managing Partner of Landau Gottfried & Berger LLP. He represents clients in bankruptcy cases as well as in a variety of business disputes raising issues of bankruptcy law, commercial law, contract law, ERISA law, health care law, insurance law, land use law, and real estate law.
In bankruptcy proceedings, Mr. Landau has represented debtors, creditors, official committees, trustees, landlords, asset acquirers, debt acquirers, and equity holders in large Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, including in cases such as: In re United Airlines, Inc. (Chicago, Illinois), In re PG&E (San Francisco, California), In re Medpartners (Los Angeles, California), In re Crown Vantage, Inc. (Oakland, California), and In re Sunterra Corp. (Baltimore, Maryland). In the past few years, Mr. Landau has, among other representations, represented the creditors' committees in In re APX Holdings, LLC, In re Fatburger Restaurants and In re Gordian Medical, Inc., and represented the debtors in possession in In re Vineyard National Bancorp, In re FirstFed Financial Corp., In re First Regional Bancorp, and In re KSL Media, Inc.
Mr. Landau has litigated a variety of issues including lease and contract claims, fraudulent transfer claims, UCC claims, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and intellectual property claims. Mr. Landau's appellate litigation has required him to brief and argue a number of cases to the United States Courts of Appeals of several federal circuits, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Landau is admitted in both the California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to founding Landau Gottfried & Berger LLP, Mr. Landau spent ten years as a partner in the Los Angeles office of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP. During that time, Mr. Landau served two years as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles City Planning Commission. Mr. Landau is married to one of his law school classmates (Jennifer Landau) and has two spectacular children (Josh and Sam).
